Arts & Sciences Part 2
After settling into our first phase of work in the public areas of the home, the clients moved into a focused phase 2 revamping their Primary Bedroom.
While the main living and shared spaces were newly upgraded, their Primary Bedroom now needed a reimagining. Again, the tall cold ceilings were the culprit of their main place of rest feeling unfinished and in the confined space we drenched the surfaces in Farrow & Ball's Inchirya Blue to create a soft atmospheric backdrop to a number of custom designed pieces.
In particular, we dealt with a tall awkward window of "contemporary" proportion by creating a custom frame with a hidden jib door. The panels mimicked a 4-section Japanese screen covered in de Gournay's Uki wallpaper with hand embroidered details, to be enjoyed as art when closed that still allowed sunlight in during the mornings.
A custom bed and chaise were designed and fabricated by Shialice Spatial Design, as well as custom nightstands with invisible locking features for baby proofing. Other items leaned into the clients' love of antiques, and included a marquetry desk from the 1880s, an antique Miroir Brot tri-fold mirror from France, and a late 1800s armoire from Europe.
