A gut remodel and furnishing and art curation of a bachelor’s first home
This 2,000 square-foot townhouse, outfitted with generic builder-grade finishes, was the first home of our client, a former professional poker player looking for a more permanent home, after years of travel and temporary rentals.
Due to his past life lifestyle, he didn't have much in the way of furniture and we started with a true clean slate. He also started the process without an understanding of his personal style and aesthetic preferences, but emphasized comfort. With some trial and error and digging, we realized he was drawn to interesting statement pieces, primarily from the midcentury and this introduction to collectable design proved the beginning of a new hobby. As we helped form his personal tastes, we curated a custom home filled with pieces with as much sentimental value as investment potential.
We also did a gut remodel of the builder finishes, adding bleached oak floors and brighter finishes to acheive the calm and zen-like feeling he described at our first meetings.
